Foam and its enormous potential for the creation of new consumer products
Posted on: August 25, 2011
Potential uses for foam and rubber in the domestic sphere continue to grow. Foam and rubber are inexpensive, safe, flexible, and easy to handle; and with the best foam manufacturers now offering businesses a variety of sophisticated engineering, conversion and cutting techniques, those in the market for developing and selling mass-produced consumables are really only limited by their own imaginations.
A starting point can be to take foam products that people are already familiar with and to try and expand on them in new, creative ways.
By shaping the foam used to make cushions, bedding and other types of upholstery, for example, the beginnings of a whole new range of soft furnishings can be created; high density foam cut to size can result in mattresses that are circular or which take on a variety of other unusual shapes (a feature that can often be particularly attractive to children). In a similar fashion, lower density foam can be used to make interesting and unusual cushion shapes.
Foam can also lend itself to a range of rather inventive practical applications. In children's playrooms, for example, various pieces of foam cut to size can provide protective covers and buffers around poles and other potentially hazardous features.
The growing trend towards home gyms is another aspect of modern living that can benefit from new foam and rubber developments; most particularly in the form of easy-to install interlocking foam or rubber floor tiles.
It should also be remembered that it is very easy for reliable foam suppliers to access foam in any number of different colours or to add various design motifs. Such added value features can only help make the end products even more attractive to buyers.
At Technical Foam Services we can help your business pinpoint the right type of foam for any creative idea.
